Livingston-based company, Merbabies, which specialises in baby, pre-school and parent classes has teamed up with one of Scotland’s leading independent nursery’s, Little Flyers, to run Baby Relax Massage and Yoga classes at its site in West Calder.
The classes, which will be carried out by qualified infant massage instructor and former nursery nurse Megan Holwill, are catered for mums and dads with babies from birth till pre-crawling age and designed to connect babies and parents both emotionally and physically from an early age.
The first block of six-week classes starts on 14th September, where parents will be shown how to do gentle massage, acupressure, relaxation, sensory stimulation and yoga.
Baby massage not only helps with parent and child bonding, but also aiding sleeping, establishing a bedtime routine, helping ease colic and wind and research has shown it can also help parents suffering from post-natal depression.
Anna Payne, Founder of Merbabies and mum of two, said: “We are really excited about launching our new Baby Relax Massage and Yoga classes at Little Flyers in West Calder, where we will teach parents easy to learn massage and yoga techniques which will help them to settle, sooth, communicate and bond with their babies and guaranteed to leave them feeling relaxed and destressed.
“At Merbabies we know, from personal experience, how important it is to bond with your little one and to get out there and meet people which is why we run a variety of different classes to help in that very important journey of learning about our new role in life with a baby and understanding and practising great ways to relax, enjoy special one-to-one time and interconnect.”
The Baby Massage & Yoga classes, will take place in the chill out zone of converted Victorian house set in beautiful grounds, and last 50mins and costs £50 for a block of six sessions, which includes massage oil, tea, coffee, water and home baking.
