This summer The Centre, Livingston, is banishing the boredom with over 40 free children’s action-packed activities and family fun guaranteed to keep little ones amused during the summer holidays.
Throughout July and August, The Centre’s smallest visitors can enjoy an adventure day out and take part in a host of activities including science workshops where kids can investigate and make their own fossils, explore bugs and the life cycle of various animals including frogs and butterflies and make their own flip books to help them understand more about the natural world. Mini biologists will also have the opportunity to get up close with some little creatures from Five Sisters Zoo.
The Summer of Fun activities follows the theme of the mall’s first-ever exhibition, Leap into Summer, running from 1st July until 31st August, where eleven giant 3D frogs – seven of which were designed by local schools, colleges and community groups, plus a further four by professional artists – are situated around the shopping centre to create a fun adventure trail.
Youngsters are invited to take part in Explorer Training and put their skills to good use by joining one of The Centre’s explorers to go on an exciting frog trail and collect a Frog Trail Passport from the Customer Service Desk, then hop off around the shopping centre to spot all of the arty amphibians. When they’ve completed the trail, they can return their quiz sheet to the Customer Service Desk where they will receive an official certificate and sticker and be in with a chance of winning a Cotswold Den Making Kit and family lunch.
Ashley Bisland, Deputy Centre Director at The Centre, said:
“We know how important it is to have somewhere fun to go as a family during the school holidays, whatever the weather has in store, and we’re delighted to provide an exciting line-up of free summer activities, which ties in with our amphibian’s theme, to keep little ones entertained.
“Whether they’re enjoying our science workshops, making new furry friends with the outreach team from Five Sisters Zoo or going on our wonderful adventure trail, this summer is set to be one to remember!”
All activities are free, with no booking required and are open to all ages. Visit http://www.thecentrelivingston.com to find more details of what’s on and opening hours, or check out the Shop The Centre Facebook page.
