Event Description

This winter, the Giant Lanterns of China return to RZSS Edinburgh Zoo for a new and exciting adventure. For 50 legendary nights, visitors can escape into a world of Scottish myths and ancient Chinese legends in a light spectacle featuring hundreds of dazzling lanterns at the Zoo’s biggest ever event.

Come face to face with mythical creatures from Scottish and Chinese folklore including magical unicorns, towering giants, the Loch Ness Monster and a colossal phoenix at Scotland’s only Chinese lantern festival.

From 16 November 2018, the enchanting event will include performances from traditional Chinese entertainers, handmade crafts from Chinese artisans and delicious seasonal food, making it the perfect evening out for adults and children alike.

The event was inspired by the critical conservation work of RZSS. It tells the stories of endangered animals that face extinction and the real risk of them becoming legends for future generations.

Tickets for The Giant Lanterns of China are priced from £9.50 for children and £18 for adults. To book tickets or to learn more about the event please visit: www.edinburghzoo.org.uk/lanterns
